Wednesday, April 12, 2023, all the way through Thursday, October 6, 1949. On April 12, 2023, in Irving, Texas, Thomas Allyn “Tom” Coker passed away at the age of 73. His parents, Thomas and Betty Coker, welcomed him and his twin brother Terry into the
world on October 6, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tom graduated from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas in 1967. After that, he spent four years at the University of Arlington studying electrical engineering and eventually graduated in 1971. Tom was able to catch everyone, including himself, off guard when, after finishing college, he was selected in the final round of the draughts to serve his country in the United States Navy. His honourable Navy service spanned the years 1971–1978. Following his military service, Tom put his
electrical engineering training to use by taking a job at Mostek, which was later bought by SGS Thompson and where he worked for the next 33 years until his retirement. Tom’s parents, Thomas Vernon Coker and Betty Hodgkiss Coker, and his twin brother, Terry Coker, all passed away before him. Tom’s memory will live on in the hearts of his brother Tim and his wife Sherril Lynn, his niece Lyndsey and
nephew Colton, his sister-in-law Stephanie, his aunt Joann, his cousins Carolyn Coker Manns and David Coker, and a plethora of other relatives and friends. Instead of sending flowers, Tom’s family has asked that donations be made in his honour to the Wounded Warriors Memorial Fund. The time and date of a memorial service are still to be established.
