Sylvia Broadbent Obituary, Death- At the age of 78, Sylvia Meredith Broadbent passed away at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, Kentucky, on the 11th of April, 2023. She called the town of Cadiz in Kentucky her home. She was born on November 9, 1944 in the city of Dover in the state of Tennessee.
Her parents, Charles Meredith and Bertha (Wallace) Meredith Sholar, had passed away prior to her birth. She was their daughter. She had been employed at the Bank of Cadiz for the previous three decades, during which time she rose through the ranks to become the department head of the bookkeeping division. She had worked there for a pretty considerable amount of time at that point. Both tending to the flowers in her garden and working in the yard were activities that brought her a great deal of pleasure.
She held the position of “Grandma” in the highest regard, especially when it came to spending time with her grandchildren. Throughout the course of her life, she was actively involved in both the Oakland United Methodist Church as well as the New Hope Baptist Church. Her brother, Dale Meredith, and two sisters, Shirley Matthews and “Imey” White, passed away before her. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death not only by her parents, but also by her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Broadbent of Cadiz; two sons, Anthony Broadbent (Deanna) Broadbent of Denton, Texas and Shane Broadbent (Courtney) Broadbent of Cadiz; a daughter, Theresa (David) Lancaster of Cadiz; and nine grandchildren, Jarrod Lancaster, Courtney Broadbent, Theresa Broadbent, Courtney Lancaster, and Shane Broadbent. She was born on Lauren (Michael) Cotthoff, Anne (Troy) Nickson, Amanda (Brad) Munday, and Anne (Troy) Nickson.
The Goodwin Funeral Home, which can be found at 138 Main Street in Cadiz, is the establishment that is in charge of making the necessary arrangements at this time. On Friday, April 14, 2023, commencing at four o’clock in the afternoon, the family will begin hosting friends at this place. The Reverend McKinley Moore will preside over the funeral services that will be performed at the Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The funeral services will be held in memory of the deceased. The burial will take place in the cemetery that is associated with Bethel United Methodist Church in Cadiz as the final resting place.
