South Park School Shooting – After Harris and Klebold discovered that some of the homemade bombs they hid throughout the school did not detonate as planned, they made the choice to carry out the attack as a shooting attack rather than an attack using bombs. This decision was reached after they learned that some of the devices they hid did not go off as anticipated. Both Harris and Klebold were involved in the planning of the attack, and their plan called for the attack to begin with a bombing and then transition into a shooting rampage.
The plan also called for Harris and Klebold to carry out the attack together. Two separate explosive devices, each of which was hidden in a distinct place distant from the school, went off simultaneously and independently of one another, with one of the bombs only detonating partially. The school did not suffer any direct damage as a result of the blasts.
