Beloved grandfather of Laura McAvoy and her husband Jeff, Andrea Hodges and her husband Parker, Sam Portelli, Alexandra Salomon, Brett Portelli, Katherine Portelli, Robert Sharkey, Gabriella Portelli, Jacqueline Portelli, Marissa Sharkey, and Veronica Portelli. Also the doting grandfather of Brett Portelli, Brett Portelli Jr., and Katherine Portelli. Great-grandfather who doted on his grandchildren’s children, Juliet, Jack, and Fiona McAvoy as well as Samuel Hodges.
Joseph Portelli’s brother; also the brother of Mary Portelli and Concetta Helble; predeceased. Respected son of the late John Portelli and Rosalia (née Govatto) Portelli, who both passed away. He remained in the city of his birth until the year 1993, when he moved to Toms River, where he remained until 2016, when he finally made his home in Holmdel. Before he retired in 1994, he spent the previous 50 years as a co-owner of the Portelli Brothers Electrical Contractors business in Paterson, together with his late brother Joseph. Samuel was a part of several fraternal organizations, including the Elks Lodge and the Fidelians of America.
