Hayes has worked for the La Vergne Police Department for the past 17 years, during which time he has been a member of the department’s force in his capacity as an officer. The diagnosis that was provided to Lieutenant Hayes in March of 2023 was that he was in the terminal stage of pancreatic cancer, and after that, he
