Motorcycle Accident Albuquerque – Albuquerque Police and Albuquerque Fire Rescue were both sent to the intersection of Central Avenue and Atrisco Boulevard SW at approximately 8:30 p.m. in response to a report of a collision involving a motorbike. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered a person who had already passed away in addition to another collision victim who was severely injured.
The second rider, a woman, was transferred to UNMH after the accident, but she ultimately passed away as a result of the injuries she got in the collision. The accident also involved a sport utility vehicle, and witnesses said they saw airbags deploying in response to the impact of the motorcycle. The sport utility vehicle came to a stop in front of Filiberto’s Mexican Food, which is located on the southeast corner of Atrisco and Central streets.
Darren DeAguero, a sworn officer with the APD who also serves as the department’s public information officer, has issued the following statement: This evening, law enforcement authorities made an attempt to perform a traffic stop on a motorcycle that was transporting two people. The rider of the motorcycle did not come to a stop and instead fled the scene.
The motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car, which led to the tragic loss of life of one of the motorcyclists who was present at the scene. The passenger was taken to the hospital, but she did not survive her injuries and passed away there later. The people who were inside the vehicle were also sent to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
