Kenneth Smith Obituary, Death – At the age of 62, Kenneth (Ken) Smith, who was a resident of Sarasota, Florida, died away at the Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota, Florida, on March 7, 2023, in a tranquil and peaceful manner. Patty LaRoche, his partner of a lifetime, was there by his side. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Kathy Smith, as well as his birth mother and stepfather, Wilma and Clinton Beauford, both of Pittsburgh. Kathy Smith is the only member of his immediate family still living.

Roland Smith, Ken’s father, left this world before his son had the opportunity to experience it. Ken spent a total of 27 years at The Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh, where he was in charge of organizing and managing specialist programs for patients who had been diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Ken was given the post of executive director of the PWSA l USA after serving on the organization’s Board of Directors for the previous 18 years.

His tenure on the board qualified him for the promotion. He was held in extremely high regard not only by people who have PWS but also by their parents, those who worked with them, and professionals in the medical field. The countless testimonies that were sent in the days leading up to Ken’s demise all made reference to his intelligence, his excellent sense of humor, and his calm and sympathetic demeanor. On Siesta Key beach at a later time, there will be a memorial service for immediate family and close friends of the deceased.
