Julie Finlayson Obituary, Death – The news that Julie Finlayson, founder of Waccamaw Animal Rescue Missions and executive director of the organization, has passed away is one that we share with sorrowful hearts. Because we needed to get in touch with her relatives across the country and overseas, we couldn’t immediately inform the general public about what had happened. We are deeply
grieved by the passing of our friend and animal activist, who has dedicatedly served the community of Horry County and beyond for more than 25 years. Not only did she work tirelessly to save the lives of the animals in her town, but she also looked out for the people who lived there. During the time that we are working through the probate process, WARM will continue to function normally; however, we will not take in any extra animals in case this has an impact on the rescue. It is the wish of both the Board of Directors and the volunteers to
continue assisting our community and to continue rescuing animals in need; but, we will not be able to do either of these things in an effective manner until we have set answers on what is going to happen with the property that the rescue is located on. Because the procedure of probate is not a rapid one, however, that could take some time to complete. Since we are still a charity organization and still
have 14 pigs, 5 dogs, 6 cats, and 5 hens who need to be cared for, we ask that you kindly be patient with us and continue to support WARM. Please take into consideration the possibility of adopting, as we are actively looking for homes for everyone! Because Julie did not want a memorial ceremony, there will not be one held in her honor. In lieu of spending money on a memorial service and/or flowers, she kindly requested that contributions be donated to WARM in her honor instead.
