Jim Ramsey Obituary, Death – In memory of former WGN weatherman Jim Ramsey, who passed away on April 8, 2022, the Village of Island Lake, which he called home for many years, is holding an event to pay tribute to him. Before calling it quits in 2017, Ramsey had a career in weather forecasting that spanned 42 years and spent 30 of those years at WGN-TV. On Friday, he was inducted into the “Island Lake Notables Wall of Fame” that the community has.
The event was accessible to members of the general public. Speakers included his widow, Leslie Ramsey, as well as Jackie Bange, who had previously worked together at WGN. WGN has paid tribute to Ramsey on multiple occasions throughout the years, including when he retired in 2017, when his life was mournfully reflected upon upon his passing in 2022, and most recently, when the WGN Morning News paid tribute to Ramsey for his affable appearances on an otherwise humorous program.
