Yoder, age 26, passed away on April 9th while
serving in Afghanistan. Jarett’s birthday is November 10th, and he was born in Reading. Gary L. Yoder and Diane C. (née Allcroft) Yoder raised him in Richmond Township, and he was their son. Before leaving for Afghanistan, Jarett tied the knot with his now-wife Heather L. Garay-Yoder on July 7, 2012. He was an expert soldier and Apache helicopter pilot for the 28th Infantry Division’s B Company, 1/104th Aviation Regiment out of Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. For his service in Afghanistan, Jarett was posthumously honored
with the Bronze Star, Air Medal, and NATO Medal. He also was honored with the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a bronze service star and the Iraq Campaign Medal with a bronze service star for his valiant devotion to his country. Jarett attended Oley Valley High School, and he graduated in 2005. His favorite sports were soccer, track and field, and wrestling, and he was very active in all of them. Like many
other artists, Jarett had a passion for pottery. Jarett’s grandfather, Paul Yoder, passed away before he was born. Besides his parents and siblings, Jarett is survived by his maternal grandparents Robert and Gail Allcroft, paternal grandmother Doris Yoder, and paternal aunt and uncle Amanda and Bryon Yoder. Two more members of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard are Amanda and Bryon.
His wife’s mother and father, Diane L. Newcomb and Joseph Garay, both of Mohnton, Pennsylvania, his wife’s sister Melissa Garay Belinski and her husband Jonathan Belinski of Reading, Pennsylvania, and his wife’s other sister Ashley Garay of West Chester, Pennsylvania, all survive him. Jarett has two nephews, Lucas and Jack, and five nieces, Kayla, Jailyn, Willow, Camila, and Stella.
