James Shafer II Obituary, Death – An investigation into a crash involving a single car that took place in Ankeny on April 8 at 803 NW 32nd St. was performed jointly by the Ankeny Police Department and the Ankeny Fire Department. It has been determined through the course of the investigation that the car had only one occupant, and that occupant was the driver.
Ankeny resident James Shafer II, who is 21 years old, has been identified as the person who was behind the wheel. The investigation into what caused the accident is still ongoing at this time, and additional information will be shared when it becomes available. During this terrible time, the Ankeny Police Department and the Ankeny Fire Department would like to send their most heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of James Shafer II.
The caller stated that the car had entered the home. Both the Ankeny Police Department and the Ankeny Fire Department rushed to the area as soon as they were notified.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered an automobile that had been completely consumed by flames and had been parked in the basement of the house. The occupants of the house were able to safety evacuate, although it is currently unknown how many people were in the automobile. The residents of the residence were able to safely evacuate.
