Elkin Sierra Obituary, Death – It is with profound regret that we must inform you of the loss of retired MDFR Lieutenant and Chaplain Father Elkin Sierra. After 21 years of service to the #MDFR, Father Sierra took early retirement in 2013 so that he may pursue a vocation in the priesthood. We shall miss Father Sierra, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. At the funeral mass, Father Gregory Cormier will preside as the celebrant. After the service, interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Sierra received an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Southwest Louisiana Community College, both of which she attended on her path to becoming a registered nurse. The maintenance of her family’s health was always one of her top priorities, and she had a strong interest in the nursing profession. Sierra was the epitome of a “daddy’s girl,” but she also had a deep affection for the rest of her family, particularly her dog Bentley. She had a big heart and was always prepared to provide a helping hand to whoever was in need; this trait will live on in people’s memories of her.
In addition, Sierra possessed a deep love for all animals, particularly elephants. Her hobbies of choice were applying makeup, reading, going shopping, and dining in restaurants. In addition to being a loving and loyal daughter, sister, girlfriend, godmother, niece, and granddaughter, Sierra was also a best friend to a large number of people. All those who knew and loved her will grievously miss her after her passing. She is survived by her parents, Brent Savoie and Michelle Butler Savoie; brothers, Dillion Savoie and Bryce Savoie; a significant other named Harley Hooper; a godchild named Lucian James Savoie; her paternal grandmother Rita Rosa Belle Savoie; her paternal grandfather Joseph Yves Savoie (Caroline); her maternal grandparents Charles Butler, Sr. and Catherine Castania Butler; her uncle and godfather, John Savoie; her
