Edward Vandiver Obituary, Resident of Russellville, Alabama Has Died – Death Cause

Edward Vandiver Death, Obituary – Edward Keith Vandiver, age 89, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on April 8, 2023 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home. His departure was preceded by a humble acceptance of God’s will, and it is with deep sadness that we announce his loss. He was a devoted member of The Church of Christ his entire life, and he took great satisfaction in serving as a song leader during the congregation’s weekly gatherings.

Melanie Vandiver Kilburn, Charlotte Renee Vandiver Hardin, Jeffrey Vandiver, and Gregory Vandiver are the four children that are left behind by Edward after his passing. Surviving grandchildren include; Brooke Vandiver, Megan Kilburn, Kenzie Kilburn Ridner, Hannah Hardin Castillo, John Vandiver and Draven Vandiver.

Edward was a member of the United States Army during the Korean War and worked for the United States Reduction in Russellville for a total of 23 years after his discharge. He was an avid fisherman and devoted follower of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Both Edward’s wife, Brenda Katherine Vandiver, and his grandson, Chancelor Hunter Vandiver, passed away before him.

On February 11, 1934, Edward was the last child to be born to John Henry and Virgie Lou Vandiver of Leighton, Alabama. He was the 12th child overall. He was a member of the graduating class of 1953 at Colbert County High School, which was located in Leighton. During his stay there, not only did he participate in the marching band as a baritone player, but he was also a member of the basketball team and earned the nickname “Big Daddy” among his fellow students.
