Deyani Torres Suicide – My name is Deyani Josuez Rodrigues-Torres, and yesterday, at the age of thirteen, my son Deyani took his own life. It is with GREAT regret that I bring you this news. We are having a difficult time getting through this period of mourning and recovery. We ask that you refrain from calling at this time, but that you do keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Be careful out there in the world. Deyani was a cheerful person who enjoyed having fun, being helpful to others, being creative, and being joyful. He was cherished by a large number of people in his immediate environment and was notoriously referred to as “The favorite” among members of his own family. He cherished the time he could spend with his loved ones and close pals.
He cherished the time spent with his parents, his children, and his extended family. He found enjoyment in a variety of pastimes, including bowling, fishing, swimming, skating, playing video games, and watching movies in his spare time. He was always up for an adventure, whether it was working on a motorcycle with his dad to restore it, traveling to the beach, going to a late-night movie showing, or trying out a new sport or instrument.
During this trying period, his family is working hard to try and make sense of a situation that is beyond their comprehension. Despite the fact that they are still in disbelief, confusion, and ignorance regarding the specifics that led him to his final decision of taking his own life, they love him and will only remember him for his lovely smile and the happy times they shared with him. In order to demonstrate our solidarity with the Rodrigues-Torres family at this difficult time, we are collecting donations to help cover the unforeseen costs they have incurred.
