Dayve Sanchez Death – The identity of the guy killed and the SBI officer who shot him outside an Academy Sports + Outdoors on Tuesday were confirmed by the Apex Police Department. On Tuesday evening, ABC11 spoke with the family of 18-year-old Dayve Sanchez. They originally identified him as the man who was gunned killed outside the Apex sporting goods store on Pine Plaza Drive around 1:30 p.m. “Dayve is well-liked.

He’s a child. Joyce Bloodsworth, a family acquaintance, remarked, “He was only 18 years old.” “He had his entire life ahead of him, and we just want answers because we love and care about him so much, and he should not have died.” Sanchez’s mother informed ABC11 that they first learned of his involvement in the event hours later. The family was stunned to learn the news, claiming that the activities attributed to Sanchez do not match who they know him to be. They stated on Wednesday that they are still looking for information.

“I have no information on what happened to my son,” Sanchez’s mother wrote on Facebook. My sole knowledge is that the police shot my son. I ask that you share and spread the news. “I require justice for my son.” According to the Apex Police Department, Sanchez and an unidentified woman were suspected of shoplifting. The woman allegedly attempted to steal ammo from a counter display before fleeing the store.

They were greeted in the parking lot by a man who turned out to be a State Bureau of Investigation agent, now identified as Denzel Ward, 29. Ward has been employed by the SBI since September 2020, according to state records. Ward has been placed on administrative leave while an inquiry into what happened is conducted. Ward, according to investigators, was on duty when he opened fire. He fired and killed Sanchez, who was suspected to be carrying a weapon, according to investigators.

During their investigation, Apex cops discovered a weapon next to Sanchez’s body. Officials have yet to explain why Ward was at the store. The woman who was with Sanchez was not shot, but she was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to police, she is still in the hands of medical personnel and has not been charged in the case. According to family relatives, the woman with Sanchez was a “new friend.” WATCH: Police Chief Delivers Shooting Briefing
