Charlie Newport Obituary, Member Of New Zealand Speedboat Has Passed Away

Charlie Newport Obituary, Death – Charlie Newport had passed away on the Facebook page associated with the Powerboats New Zealand organization. “I am writing this on behalf of the Newport family to relay the news that Charlie Newport passed away during the night. Please accept my condolences for your loss. They want to share this knowledge with each and every one of you, but they do so with a heavy heart. I will give you the funeral information as soon as I have finished making all of the necessary preparations.

In 1973, Charlie got his start in racing with a small hydroplane he called Miss Lathe. His first race was in 1974. Following that, he went out and bought a Cosmic ex Atom II and rechristened his dog Felix. In 1975, he was successful in convincing Arnold Johnson to construct a new yacht for him, which at the time was referred to as Felix. Later on, he decided to rebrand the vessel as the Miss Greyford, and it went on to take first place in the New Zealand Title competition in 1977, 1979, and 1980.

In 1981, Charlie moved up to a higher class and purchased Pure Magic, which assisted him in winning several titles in New Zealand’s North and South Islands. Both of these accomplishments occurred during the same year. His subsequent boat was a Buckshot, and the year 1989 was the one in which he took first place in the North Island Championship. Charlie and Jan Newport were a pair that was well-known and respected in the world of speedboating. They achieved a lot of success together. During this time of great need, our thoughts and prayers are with the Newport family.
