Branko Sormaz Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, April 5th, at the age of 53, Branko passed away while he was surrounded by his loving family. It is with deep regret that we share the news of his loss. Ljiljana’s cherished husband and the person she has called her closest friend for the past 22 years. A devoted father to his children, Jelena and Arandjel. Beloved brother of Milka and Gojko Dronjak and their family in Serbia, Danica and Milovan Pfilipovic and their family, and Lazo and Milanka Sormaz and their family in the Republika Srpska. Many of his aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends in Canada, the United States of America, and Europe will never forget him.
Branko was well-known within the Serbian community that existed in Hamilton for many years. His demise has left a significant vacuum in both our community and in the lives of the countless individuals that he had an influence on during his lifetime. Volunteering and taking part in events hosted by the St. Nicholas Serbian community as well as the Holy Transfiguration Serbian Orthodox Monastery were two of the many ways in which Branko was actively involved in the community.
On Monday, April 10th, from 6 to 9 o’clock in the evening, the family will be present at the L.G. WALLACE FUNERAL HOME (151 Ottawa Street North, 905-544-1147) to greet friends and family members. Pomen will begin at 7:30 in the evening. On Tuesday, April 11th at 11 a.m., a Funeral Service will be place at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, which is located at 149 Nash Road South. With the Most Reverend Father Dragomir Ninkovic presiding over the ceremony. After the service, interment will take place at Mountview Gardens Cemetery.
